Trapper’s Cabin

Site: Pitkin County, Colorado. Elevation 8,800 ft.

The Project: 500-square-foot structure designed in tribute to an 1890s prospector’s cabin—a couple’s dream hideout—but with well-hidden modern amenities and conveniences, such as radiant-heat floors, an automated sprinkler system in the roof, and
a wine cellar.

Materials/Methods: Construction includes scribe-fit standing-dead logs from the Flat Tops Wilderness and antique roof boards.

Services Provided: Log and timber design and construction.

Press: Hands-On Log Homes
