Vast Refuge

Site: United States Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Elevation 6,920ft.



The Project: Buddhist meditation hall within a National Historic Register site. The Chapel is the most popular man-made attraction in Colorado and now holds the first space in a federal facility dedicated to Buddhism. 



​Materials/Methods: Hand-planed Port Orford cedar timbers and wall panels (sawn from trees selectively harvested on the Yurok Reservation), plaster infill, and backlit shoji screens.
